MySurvey Review: Is MySurvey.com Legit, Safe, or a Scam? (Aug. 2019)

If you’re looking for an honest MySurvey review, it can be really challenging to find.

There is an abundance of people across the internet writing blog posts about how great MySurvey.com is, how great their payouts have been, etc. But you have to take these recommendations with a grain of salt, because almost 100% of publishers recommending My Survey are compensated every time they refer a new member.

I am not an affiliate for MySurvey.com. I’m just an internet entrepreneur who’s doing my best to combat false recommendations from people whose opinions are purchased via a commission instead of rightfully earned.

Just one of MySurvey’s many misleading promotions…

The bottom line is this: My Survey is one of the biggest wastes of time & lowest-ROI paid online survey sites.

And now it looks like they’ve either rebranded or been purchased by a company named “LifePoints“? More on that later…

MySurvey.com now redirects to LifePoints?

Multiple users report that their accounts get shut down for no reason (often right before they qualify for a payout), as shown later in this review. If you’re looking for the best paid survey sites, I highly recommending a more reputable and better-paying site like Swagbucks.

We’ve reviewed well over a dozen paid survey sites, programs, and applications. Nobody has come remotely close to topping Swagbucks. They’re 100% free to join and have a large variety of offers to choose from.

If you’re going to join any paid survey site, join Swagbucks – I’d sincerely be shocked if you reported back with a different surveys-for-money website that you liked better.

My Survey: Digging Into the Details

At a slightly deeper level, here are the biggest problems with MySurvey’s platform:

  1. MySurvey has very low payouts compared to other competitors.
  2. Many users report having their accounts suspended just before they qualify for a payout.
  3. Points have a lower value when redeemed for cash vs. being redeemed for “sweeps entries,” therefore padding THEIR profits instead of distributing them to members.
  4. Many sites recommend MySurvey over similar sites because they’re getting paid better commissions for referring you, NOT because MySurvey is actually a better site.

For greater detail and supporting evidence for all of these points, read the rest of my MySurvey review below.

Is MySurvey Legit, or Just a Scam?

If you don’t have time to read the full review, here’s the gist:

MySurvey's website homepage

If you’re searching for a paid online survey site that rewards you with points you can use to enter various sweepstakes, MySurvey.com might be a good fit. Their interface is pretty easy to navigate and if sweepstakes entries are what you want, you’re not going to be disappointed.

However, if you’re going in with the assumption that you can make cash and generate a part-time or full-time income, you’re going to be upset. Even though many people promoting MySurvey say you’ll make money, they’re withholding some truth so that they can earn a commission off of you (they get paid when you join through their link).

You earn sweepstakes entries by completing surveys, you only earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards/cash through PayPal by referring friends (proof in the full review below). You get paid the equivalent of less than $1.50 per friend that you refer, so unless you’re referring people in droves, you’re very unlikely to make any kind of real income with this survey network.

Long story short: Looking for sweepstakes entry points? Good – MySurvey will be a good fit. Looking for cash? Bad – MySurvey isn’t going to be worth your time. You’d be much better off checking out our post, “Making Part-Time Income from Paid Surveys Online.”

Signing Up – Pretty Quick and Easy Overall

Creating an account with MySurvey was pretty simple. They requested all of the standard information: name, address, phone number, marital status, household income, etc… Every survey network needs this personal information to accurately distribute surveys to the members that companies want to hear from — this doesn’t make them a scam company.

There weren’t any red flags here, and I had an account set up and ready to go in around 2-3 minutes.

Completing Your First Surveys: A Necessary Evil

After you join, MySurvey needs to collect some more details like information about the car(s) you drive, your financial situation, etc… They refer to these as “Lifestyle Surveys” and every new member has to complete these before being served other survey options.

These take approximately ten minutes each and are fairly brainless. If you know information about yourself (which I hope is the case) then you should be able to breeze through these and earn your first couple of “Sweeps Entries”.

Wait… Sweeps Entries? What About Money?!

This is an interesting distinction that MySurvey makes. When you answer surveys, you receive “Sweeps Entries”, not points. Sweeps Entries, as you might assume, can be cashed in for a very small chance at winning something. Points can be redeemed for cash with MySurvey, but there are a couple of catches.

Redeeming points for cash through PayPal

You can only redeem points for cash using PayPal. If you’re in a country that PayPal doesn’t accept accounts from, you’re pretty much screwed. You can still redeem for gift cards and other things, but there’s no direct way to turn your points into cash other than PayPal.

Redeeming points for gift certificates

Points are only earned by referring friends, which means in order to make cash with MySurvey you have to refer friends, not complete surveys.

The distinction between points and sweeps entries

The point-to-cash ratio is roughly 110 points per U.S. dollar, and you receive 150 points for each friend you refer to MySurvey. This means you’re earning roughly $1.36 for each friend you can convince to join.

So if you want cash, you better have a massive social network that you can get to join. In order to clear just $100, you’d have to successfully refer 74 friends. That paints a pretty bleak picture for anyone hoping to join MySurvey to make a part-time or full-time income.

But Is MySurvey Legit & Safe? Or Is Mysurvey a Scam?

I know I’m painting a pretty dismal picture of MySurvey here, but by no means is MySurvey a scam.

Do I think there are competitors in this space that are much more legitimate than MySurvey? Absolutely — and I’d much rather give them my business.

But there are a ton of people searching questions on the internet like:

  • Is MySurvey.com legit?
  • Is My Survey a scam?
  • Is MySurvey safe to use?
  • Does My Survey really work?

And the answer to all of those questions is: No, MySurvey is not a scam. Yes, they are legitimate, they are a perfectly safe website to use, and it does “really work” for (in my opinion) unhelpful sweepstakes-entry points, rather than paying cash.

Although there are plenty of paid online survey scams to steer TOTALLY clear of, MySurvey.com is not one of them. But I wouldn’t personally use MySurvey despite all of the above — there are much better surveys-for-cash websites.

Unfortunately, It’s Not Quite that Simple Either

By poking around on the internet, I found other MySurvey reviews exposing the company to have kind of a bad reputation among former members. According to TrustPilot as of August 2019, MySurvey has only a 1-star review with over 200 ratings.

A lot of people built up points and were about to make a little money only to have their points disappear, their account go inactive, or have their account suspended:

So if you’re going to join MySurvey for sweeps entries or to make a quick $10-$20 by referring a few friends, keep these negative reviews and words of caution for other users in mind. You may spend a lot of time and effort to get those points/sweeps entries only to have them taken away before you have a chance to redeem them.

MySurvey Now Merged with Or Rebranded to LifePoints

As I update this review in August 2019, MySurvey.com now forwards to LifePointsPanel.com. There’s a little staticky TV screen that fades from MySurvey’s logo into LifePoints’ logo, and then… BOOM! You’re on a completely different website.

The strange MySurvey static TV before you're forwarded to LifePointsPanel.com

“Abra Kadabra… REDIRECT!”

Will My Survey turn it around now that they’ve rebranded/merged with LifePoints? Or was that just a business move to get out from under their previous, poor reputation across any honest website you could find with a quick Google search?

I guess time will tell. But given their history, and the fact that no business with a higher commitment to quality would want to touch that plagued reputation with a 10-foot pole… I’d rather invest my time into a platform I was 100% sure was legitimate and one of the best paid survey sites online — not take a chance with a closely-related “sister” website.

Final Rating: D

It’s been several years since I originally checked out MySurvey, but frankly it looks like they’re still up to the same ol’ stuff.

If for some strange reason you prefer sweepstakes entries or borderline-worthless “points” that can’t be exchanged for cash, go for it!

If you want to take a chance checking out LifePoints (the site that MySurvey appears to have morphed into and now redirects you to), I’m not going to stop you! There are plenty of people on the internet that will tell you to sign up so that they can make a commission off of you. The same is true for people recommending Toluna, Ipsos i-Say, and more.

But if it were my time and my bank account, I’d just rather turn to an already-proven paid online survey website with a positive reputation and happy members. MySurvey.com (and any company that they’re associated with, past or present), is not one that I’d choose to invest my time or energy into.
