Johnny FD *Almost* Brought His A-Game With Earnest Affiliate

Earnest affiliate review

I heard of Johnny FD a while back but didn’t realize he had a product for sale until now. Today we’re looking at Earnest Affiliate by Johnny FD to see if it’s worth that $197 price tag he’s placed on it.

I’m not an affiliate for Earnest Affiliate. I had high hopes for this after listening to his podcast (travel like a boss podcast) for a while. He seems like a very nice and sincere guy, but I’m sad to say he didn’t bring his ‘A’ game with this one.

Want to try something for free that DOES bring its 'A' game? We have a selection of free courses you can try out. Go see what piques your curiosity >>

Earnest Affiliate: Quick Summary

Earnest affiliate review

Earnest Affiliate is supposed to show you how to go from “nothing” to having a profitable website promoting affiliate products. Johnny has split the process into 8 modules designed to take you step-by-step.

Sadly, Johnny hasn’t even finished the course yet (even though he’s accepting sizable payments for membership). He’s left out a lot of vital steps that are required for you to be successful. All you’re going to see is “coming soon” in the course navigation bar:

However, there’s still a lot of good content inside. Let’s take a look inside the members’ area to see what is there.

Inside The Members’ Area

You’ll be presented with a welcome video when you first log in showing you how to navigate through the course. At the top of the page, you’ll find the navigation menu with all the course modules broken down:

This is a video course, so inside each module you’ll find videos which vary in length, usually around 8 to 10 minutes. Here’s an example:

These videos are very good. Johnny clearly knows what he’s talking about and breaks everything down so it’s easy to understand.

I also like that he gives you multiple options instead of a singular path that might not be a perfect fit for everyone. For example: when deciding what sort of website you want to build, he goes through using Weebly, SquareSpace, and WordPress:

Johnny explains the pros and cons for each service, then provides a walkthrough video setting up a WordPress website with the hosting company he recommends.

Below every video you’ll find several things, including:

  • Questions to ask yourself during the process.
  • Action steps to take.
  • Downloadable resources (PDFs, checklists, etc.) if applicable to that module.
  • A list of resources mentioned in the video.

Here’s an example from the “Content Creation” module:

Johnny provides everything you need to complete the tasks required for that module, and even provides examples when needed.

There’s also a forum you can use to post questions and brainstorm ideas with other members. Unfortunately there’s barely anyone using it at the moment:

I attribute this to the course being relatively new. Hopefully Johnny can encourage people to use this as the course continues to grow – forums are a fantastic place to share ideas and get help when you’re stuck.

You really do have everything you need to get a website off the ground and earning money through affiliate products. Well… almost everything.

Where Johnny Has Missed The Mark

Johnny failed to include 1 whole module, plus 2 steps in 2 other modules in the course, which he’s charging $197 for. Module 8 is completely missing along with step 3 in module 7:

And step 3 in module 6 is missing:

These are vital sections that Johnny has missed prior to putting the product up for sale.

For example: In module 6 about traffic, Johnny has only said to create content that people are most likely to share. He also recommends installing a plugin that’ll add buttons to your blog posts and images that’ll allow people to share them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and several other social platforms.

There are so many other traffic generation methods that aren’t covered like guest posting, podcasting, YouTube, paid ads, etc… If Johnny included these in this course, along with a video explaining how to do these, it would make this module much better.

Module 8, which will be about automation, is another important one. Automating parts of your business will free you up to work on other things, which allows you to grow your business much faster. I have no idea what Johnny will include here, but there’s lots of things he could cover like email automation, social media, blog post scheduling, payment processing, A/B split testing, etc… MANY thing.

It’ll be interesting to see what Johnny comes up with when he eventually completes the remaining steps and modules.

Final Rating: C

What Johnny has here is good, but will potentially be great once the course is finished. Charging $197 for a course that doesn’t include what I consider to be vital information isn’t worth the money right now. Once it’s complete, it might be a different story.

Right now we offer a selection of free courses for all levels (beginners, intermediates, and advanced alike) that are 100% thorough and complete. There aren’t any missing steps, and here’s how they compare to Earnest Affiliate:

Our courses won’t cost you $197 so feel free to check them out. If you decide, “Earnest Affiliate is something I’d like to try” after taking some of our free training, then go ahead and purchase it. Hopefully by then Johnny has completed the course and is even better than the content already there.
