First, a quick word. Your purchases through these links are what keep the Free Internet Marketing Project™ funded, but you’re not at all required to use them. It’s by far the best way to say “Thanks!” for all of the free training, and ensure FIMP stays 100% free and up-to-date. Without your purchases through these links, FIMP may not be able to continue (seriously). I’m so grateful for all of your support, should you decide to buy through any of my affiliate links below. Thank you! You’re what makes FIMP possible. Domain Registrars NameCheap GoDaddy Hosting Companies Bluehost SiteGround Hostgator Keyword Research Tools Long Tail Pro (LTP) Recommended Internet Marketing Products Autoresponder Madness by Andre Chaperon Bulletproof SEO by Stephen Floyd Human Proof Designs by Dom Wells Autoresponders (Email Marketing Software) Drip Aweber Landing Page Software Clickfunnels LeadPages Premium WordPress Themes & Plugins Thrive Themes Domain Registrars You all know from Lesson 4.3 that NameCheap is my go-to domain registrar. Back in the day, I registered all of my domains at GoDaddy, but even though they’re cheap up-front, they’re a hell of a lot more expensive than NameCheap in the long run. I’ve linked both here, just in case you prefer GoDaddy over NameCheap for some reason (you do you!). NameCheap A little bit pricier for the first year (~$11.00 USD), but you’ll save over $10/year every year thereafter compared to GoDaddy and hosting companies. GoDaddy (Link Coming Soon) Much cheaper up-front (they often run $0.99 first-year specials), but much more expensive with private registration every year thereafter ($25+/year). Hosting Companies You all also know, from Lesson 4.4, that Bluehost is my #1 recommended hosting company for getting started in this industry. They’re a perfect balance between quality hosting, good customer service, and low-cost while you’re establishing your internet business. There’s just no reason to pay more than $10/month for hosting when you’re just getting started. Are there extra benefits to other, higher-cost hosting providers? Absolutely. Will you see decent ROI from those added expenses when you’re just getting started? The answer is almost certainly “no”. Grow for 1-2 years and then, when you’re making a good living, consider moving to a higher-cost, higher-quality hosting provider. Bluehost As stated above, my #1 choice for anyone just getting started. The perfect balance between value and quality. On top of that, Bluehost is the only hosting company that has sat down with me, learned more about FIMP, and provided benefits exclusive to the FIMP community. This includes discounted pricing for FIMP members that you can’t find anywhere on Bluehost’s website without using one of FIMP’s links (from $2.95/mo for the Basic plan instead of $3.95/mo, and $5.45/mo instead of $5.95/mo for their Advanced plans), plus exclusive support options for Bluehost customers who have joined through FIMP. I’m always fighting for perks for our community. As we continue to grow in size, we’ll get even more. But for the time being, Bluehost is the only hosting company that has listened to our needs and gone WAY above and beyond to help us out! SiteGround The first “up-and-coming” hosting provider this industry has seen in years. Better customer service and slightly higher-quality hosting, but you’ll receive less disk space, bandwidth, etc. for their Bluehost-comparable plans, and pay about 20% more. Not my top recommendation, but an excellent company. If you have problems with Bluehost, for whatever reason, SiteGround is my runner-up recommendation. You’ll be very happy there. Hostgator Use the coupon code “FIMP” at checkout (without quotes) to receive 60.5% off all annual plans. *sigh* With Hostgator… you get what you pay for. Slightly cheaper than Bluehost, but pretty horrendous customer service, and their hosting quality has really gone down over the years. But if for some reason Bluehost and SiteGround are a little to pricey for you at this stage, Hostgator can be a good option. Just know that they’re my lowest-ranked recommendation for a reason (and it’s not because of their commissions — Hostgator actually pays me MORE per referral than Bluehost and SiteGround!). Keyword Research Tools If you want to save a lot of time and ensure the most “bang for your buck” for your content creation and promotional efforts, premium keyword tools are an excellent investment. They’re pricey, but it’s one of the highest-ROI investments you can make in your business, if you take the time to use them properly. Long Tail Pro 39% off Annual Plans-OR-30% off Long Tail Pro monthly (monthly deal requires coupon code STOPSCAMS30) Long Tail Pro has A LOT more data than Jaaxy (the tool originally recommended in FIMP, before its price jumped), and is more holistic and dependable on-the-whole. Long Tail Pro is featured in the free FIMP training, but they also have PLENTY of great keyword training within their own members area. They can teach you how to do everything you’d need to do (and much more) should you decide to go for this more data-powered keyword tool. Recommended Internet Marketing Products I’ve gone through hundreds of internet marketing products over the years, sometimes paying close to $10,000 to develop myself and my skills. These three products are my absolute “best-ofs” in this industry. I hope to teach all of this in-depth in FIMP’s training down the road, but there’s no way I’ll be able to teach them quite as well as the masters I’ve learned from in their courses below. Autoresponder Madness(Copywriting/Sales Writing) Andre Chaperon is considered to be one of the best copywriters in this industry. He’s also highly revered as one of the best teachers of copywriting. Autoresponder Madness is, hands-down, my favorite internet marketing product of all-time. It’s a true joy to study (not a snooze, like even some of the best training products can be), and you’ll come out as a better writer, a better salesperson, and a better entrepreneur all-around if you decide to go through this course. I can’t recommend ARM highly enough. It will have a profound impact on your business, regardless of whether you’re a total beginner or an internet marketing veteran. Course Price: $397 Bulletproof SEO(Building a Local SEO Agency) If you have “the sales gene” and you’re looking for a faster way to start earning money online, selling local SEO services is the best way to do it. If you dread the thought of sales, do not take this course. But particularly for those of you that have seen success in the sales world in the past: this is the fastest track to wealth in the internet marketing world. Stephen teaches everything there is to know about how to get local clients ranked, how to find prospects, how to price/pitch/close prospects, etc. This course goes as far as providing contract templates that you can use when signing up new clients — it’s that comprehensive. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Stephen, and I’ve had several followers find tremendous success through Bulletproof SEO. If you’re good at sales (or willing to GET good at sales, as long as it means a good living for you and your family), I can’t recommend this course highly enough. It’s the closest thing to a “shortcut” that this industry has to offer. Course Price: $497 -OR- 2 x $297 / My Painstakingly In-Depth BPSEO Review Human Proof Designs(Done-For-You Niche Websites) Let’s get one thing out of the way: You can’t just order one of these sites and expect to start profiting. That’s not their purpose. But you CAN get a huge jumpstart to your business by ordering one of HPD’s done-for-you sites. Human Proof Designs gives you a solid foundation to build your internet business on. You don’t have to worry about initial website setup, fiddling around with all of WordPress’ early-stage crap, writing your first few articles (always the hardest), etc. When you order a site from HPD, you’ll receive a high-quality website with a premium theme that’s populated with several high-quality articles, professional stock images, etc. Essentially, you’re paying to “skip ahead” 2-3 months, and pick up down the road, compared to the average new website owner. You’ll still need to add high-quality content yourself, market the website, etc., but you’ll have 10x the starting point than the average new website. (NOTE: I don’t personally endorse any of HPD’s services except for their pre-built websites) Done-For-You Website Fees: $499 – $799 Autoresponders (Email Marketing Software) I’ve used several autoresponders over the years. For the most part, I’ve been pleased with every company I’ve used. But in the last couple of years, one company has begun to blow away the rest of the competition, so I no longer recommend Aweber as my #1 (the autoresponder I was with for close to a decade). Drip By far and away the best autoresponder on today’s market. They have an incredible amount of built-in automation that makes them the runaway winner You can do insane things like move a subscriber from one list to another once they visit a certain page on your website, or simply click a link you specify in one of your emails. Their user interface and reporting is easy-to-use as well. Most importantly, their support is out-of-this-world. Every time I’ve needed them, they’ve promptly replied. In one instance, they even custom-recorded several videos to show me what I needed to do within my own personal Drip account. As in the support employee was logged into MY account and showing me EXACTLY what I needed to do in one-of-a-kind videos, recorded specifically for me. It doesn’t get any better than that. They also have an unparalleled free trial (free until you get 100 subscribers; no time limit or expiration after a certain amount of days). They’re slightly more expensive than companies like Aweber and GetResponse as your list grows, but believe me when I say: You can make twice as much money using Drip as your autoresponder over any of their competitors, as long as you dig in and leverage the extra tools, features, and resources they give you. Aweber Ah, Aweber. My preferred autoresponder for close to a decade. They’re a great company, and their customer service is also pretty out-of-this-world (not “custom-videos-shot-within-my-own-account” good, but still way above average). They’re playing catch-up with Drip these days. They’ve made a good effort to build out their “Campaigns” feature, which does a fair amount of what Drip’s automation and tools make possible, but in my opinion: Aweber got complacent. They were the frontrunner in this industry for years, and they just… stopped innovating. It took a startup (at the time) like Drip to incentivize them to start innovating again, and now they’re playing catch-up. I personally chose to move most of my lists to the company that’s innovating and setting the pace (Drip), but Aweber is still a great company, and it will satisfy any basic needs you have for an autoresponder. But when it comes to something like email marketing software (a very high-ROI investment, when leveraged correctly), I want the best-of-the-best in my business. Unfortunately, that’s just not Aweber anymore. Landing Page Software “The money is in the list.” We’ve all heard it a hundred times, and for good reason — it’s true. If you have existing website traffic and you’re trying to build a list, you’re likely incentivizing opt-ins through some sort of “lead magnet”. You give your visitors something of high value for free, in exchange for their email address. Don’t just depend on your autoresponders crappy form templates if you have a decent amount of traffic (at least 100-200 visitors per day). Drive your traffic to a high-quality landing page and track your conversions closely — this is what separates amateur internet marketers from the pros, and allows me to make 5x-10x my competitors with less traffic. The process of having a landing page built and tweaked for conversions used to cost thousands of dollars. Lucky for us, those days are long gone. Here are my favorite landing page software providers, both of which I use for different purposes. Clickfunnels Clickfunnels is incredible. It’s only a couple of years old, but they’ve really lowered the barrier to entry for selling products and services online. If you just need to give away a quick eBook, Clickfunnels is total overkill. You should use LeadPages (below) for that. BUT… if you have something you want to sell, Clickfunnels will not only allow you to build a SUPER professional landing page, but they also integrate with all of the major autoresponders (Drip, Aweber, GetResponse, MailChimp, etc.) AND allow you to collect payment from your customers via PayPal and Stripe. You can launch a landing page selling anything you want within a few hours. That may not sound that impressive, but believe me — this process used to take weeks. If you have a product or service you’re trying to sell, this is only company to consider, as far as I’m concerned. They’re a bit pricey, but if you put your nose to the grindstone and get to work, Clickfunnels will pay for itself multiple times over. Check out their free trial and see for yourself. There’s a learning curve, just like anything else, but this is one of the most powerful tools in internet marketing present-day. LeadPages Clickfunnels is a tough act to follow. But if your needs are simpler, like I described above (just trying to give away an eBook or other lead magnet), LeadPages will be a better fit for you. And it’s also a bit friendlier on the ol’ bank account. LeadPages has a number of templates for you to choose from that make launching a professional, high-converting landing page easy-as-pie. They integrate with all major autoresponders so that you can build your list, and also make things like split testing (testing one landing page against another to see which converts better), analytics, tracking, etc. incredibly easy. I’ve been with LeadPages since the second month after they launched, and I intend to stay with them for the foreseeable future. They also have a free trial for you to check it out, in case you’re on the fence or a bit skeptical. What’s the big difference between LeadPages and Clickfunnels, and who should pick one over the other? If you have something to sell, use Clickfunnels. If you’re just giving away an eBook, email course, or other kind of lead magnet, go with LeadPages. You can always expand your business into something more sales-oriented using Clickfunnels down the road. Premium WordPress Themes & Plugins I make very clear in the training that I don’t believe in spending a bunch of time on website design/aesthetics, building an email list, worrying about conversion optimization, etc. until you’re consistently getting traffic (at least 100-200 visitors per day). BUT… there are still people that want to “prettify” their site from the very beginning despite that. And now that FIMP has been up and running for a while, there are several members who ARE getting that level of traffic, and now wish to shift their focus to optimizing their site’s design & conversions, as well as beginning to build an email list and sell their own products. So I felt it was time to add my one and only recommendation for this: Thrive Themes & Plugins I’ve used a lot of premium themes and plugins over the years, including “market leaders” such as Elegant Themes. None of them hold a candle to Thrive. They’re the original WordPress theme designer that prioritized conversions as #1. So many other companies design themes to be “pretty”, but totally impractical and difficult to use. Thrive took a different approach, and made themes that are as beautiful as they are conversion machines. Just like any premium theme, there’s going to be a learning curve. But that’s been reduced since they originally launched with the help of Thrive Architect, which gives you the power to create beautiful posts, pages, and standalone landing pages on your site using drag & drop functionality. These can be used to build an email list, to sell your own products (physical or digital), or simply as pages/posts on your website. What used to cost thousands of dollars to hire a designer with programming knowledge is now something you can do yourself without any coding knowledge. Thrive also has a massive library of documentation, and their support team has been responsive and helpful every time I’ve needed them. So whether you’re buying their entire suite of themes and plugins (what I’d personally recommend), or you’re just purchasing a one-off license for a plugin like Thrive Leads to optimize opt-ins to your email list (like I do on StoppingScams.com) or Thrive Architect to split-test beautiful landing pages easily, this is one of the few companies that I give a 100% universal endorsement for. Everything they’ve released has been tremendously helpful to my business at a price that’s substantially lower than any competitor of comparable quality. I’m confident they will be for your business too. Final Thoughts Phew… that’s quite the list! There’s always another tool or training you can invest in in this industry. Every. Single. Resource. on the list above is something I’ve invested in personally over the years, or a company that I have an existing subscription with present-day. So these aren’t blind recommendations: I’ve used each and every one of these personally, and in most cases, I still use them today. Remember, you aren’t required to purchase anything off of this list. But your support is greatly appreciated, and since FIMP doesn’t charge for membership or access to our training, this is the only way this project stays funded. If you have ANY questions about the resources listed here, don’t hesitate to post them to our members-only Facebook group. Otherwise, I’ll just see you around the group later, or back in the free video training!
