Swagbucks: A Survey Site that Doesn’t Suck

Let’s talk about Swagbucks, y’all.

And let’s not just yak about it in a fluffed-up, overly-hyped way just so you sign up under me. I mean a really freakin’ honest, no-holds-barred look at the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ready for a 100% honest Swagbucks review? Well let’s get into it then…

My Swagbucks Review in <1 Minute

Do you have better things to do than read Every. Single. Detail. about Swagbucks? I totally understand that, so let me give you a quick summary of the 1500+ word review below.

Compared to other survey and “get paid to ____ online” sites Swagbucks is a real diamond in the rough. You’re not going to get rich anytime soon, but they totally fulfill their claim to “get paid to do the things you’re already doing online.”

My gripe about Swagbucks is: If you don’t know what to look for, many offers are a waste of time.

But this single gripe is dramatically outweighed by Swagbucks’ strengths. If you know what you’re doing (which I teach for free – more on that later), SB actually pays very well. It’s not just a bunch of penny-paying surveys that take 30 minutes and pay you $0.15 for your time.

Incredibly well-known retailers have partnered with Swagbucks like Amazon, Audible, Ebay, and more. This allows members to actually make money while interacting with the retailers they already love.

Don’t quite believe me? No problem — I’ll provide supporting evidence and go into greater detail in the review below. But if you know you’re ready to get started with Swagbucks now (you’re not risking anything since it’s 100% free to sign up, after all), click the button below and automatically qualify for my “Swagbucks Success in 5 Easy Steps” bonus (email me for the bonus if you sign up).

What I Love About Swagbucks

There’s a lot to love about Swagbucks. I was really surprised when I joined because it was the complete opposite of what I expected. Sites making similar claims in this industry led me to believe Swagbucks would be a total scam. Fortunately, I was wrong!

Reason #1: Swagbucks actually rewards members pretty handsomely. Take a look at some of the offers below, which were on my home screen today:

swagbucks rewards member pretty good

Every “Swagbuck” is essentially worth $0.01 USD. So if you see something worth 2 Swagbucks ($0.02), it’s probably not worth your time. But there are plenty of ways to earn over 1,000-3,000 Swagbucks ($10-$30) for just a few minutes of work. Frequently, even for things you were already going to do online.

Towards the end of this review, I’ll talk more about exactly what offers your efforts are best focused on if you want to maximize your earnings.

Reason #2: Swagbucks is much more than just a list of “paid surveys,” which frequently pay horribly. It’s worth noting that some surveys on Swagbucks pay up to 3,500 points, the equivalent of $35.

There are paid surveys available (if that’s what you’re into), but there’s a large selection of tasks that take less time and reward members much better, generally speaking. Just take a look at some of the offers from Swagbucks’ trusted partners as I write this review:

Reason #3: Swagbucks is partnered with A TON of well-known retailers and websites that you’re probably already using, but not getting rewarded for. This is where the “Get paid to do things you’re already doing online” promise is fulfilled.

swagbucks partners with big retailers and websites

I’ve seen several websites that make this promise, but Swagbucks is the first one I’ve ever seen that actually delivers on that claim. I initially thought Swagbucks was a scam just like other sites BECAUSE they made this claim. But in the case of SB, they actually follow through.

Reason #4: Swagbucks has a super reasonable, low payout threshold. A lot of paid survey websites will make you earn up to $20-$50 worth of points before you can redeem. SB’s payment threshold is only $5.00. You don’t have to worry about spending weeks taking surveys to build up $50 and then have your account suspended right before you request a payout, like several scammy sites are known for in this industry.

Reason #5: You can redeem your Swagbucks for cash. Swagbucks has a PayPal payout option which makes it SUPER convenient for you, or any member, to quickly receive the fruits of your labor.

Reason #6: If you sign up through any link in this review, Swagbucks will give you a free $5 bonus. No strings attached.

The Takeaway: There are a lot of reasons to like Swagbucks. In an industry full of time-wasting surveys and scams, they’ve put together a members’ area that truly fulfills what a lot of people expect from other products. Like I said, you won’t be getting rich off of Swagbucks anytime soon, but you’ll definitely be able to earn money for the things you’re already doing online – just like they promise.

What I Don’t Like So Much…

While there’s a lot to love about SB, as is probably clear from the section above, I also want to make you aware of the only problem that I didn’t much care for.

My Only Dislike: There are many things in the members area that pay like crap for the time you spend doing them. This is a pitfall I want to make you aware of so that your time at Swagbucks is used as efficiently as possible.

Take my experience, for example. I clicked on an offer labeled “Tour the Web” because it was worth 2 Swagbucks and I thought it would be really fast. When a new window opened up, I realized I only had to spend 30 seconds on a particular website. I thought to myself, “No big deal!”

But then I further realized I had to do this seven times to earn a measly 2 Swagbucks ($0.02). 3.5 minutes of my time for two cents?! I don’t think so. This is exactly why I’ve frequently rated paid survey sites horribly in the past – they suck up a bunch of your time for the equivalent of $0.34/hour — not worth it.

So be mindful of time-sucks like this if you join. There are MUCH better ways to earn in the Swagbucks members’ area, so make sure to maximize your time-to-rewards ratio as much as possible (something taught in-depth in my sign-up bonus).

How to Earn $100+ Within Weeks with Swagbucks

If you’ve reached this point in the review, you probably know whether or not Swagbucks interests you. The first step is, of course, to create a free account and verify your email address. After setting up your account, here’s what I recommend doing to maximize your earnings with SB.

#1: Familiarize yourself with the retailers in the “Shop and Earn” section. I can almost guarantee you’re already shopping with some of these brands, but you’re not getting rewarded for it.

Any time you’re getting ready to purchase something (especially if the purchase is several hundred dollars or more), do it through Swagbucks. This alone could earn you over $100+ in a week if you need to replace an expensive appliance, book a vacation, or buy gifts around the holidays.

#2: Make a point to refer as many friends as possible. Don’t go spamming all over Facebook – that’s not going to lead to quality sign-ups that will actually make you money over time.

Start casually mentioning Swagbucks to your friends. Tell them how much you’re earning for things you were already doing online, and gauge their interest. If it sounds like something they’re interested in, refer them. You’ll earn 10% of everything they earn, so if they have a $100+ week, you automatically earn $10+ without any extra effort.

Imagine how much extra money you could make if you just referred 5-10 friends that became active on Swagbucks. Again, it’s not going to make you rich any time soon, but it’ll definitely provide some supplemental, completely passive income. Who doesn’t want that?

#3: Check the members’ area daily for new, high-paying offers. Swagbucks is constantly partnering with new brands, so even if it’s just a couple of minutes per day, pop in and see what’s new.

Don’t waste much time on tasks that pay 2 Swagbucks and take five minutes. Anything for 200+ points that only takes a couple minutes is worth checking out, though. Offers worth 1,000-3,000 points ($10-$30) are probably worthy of your time as well, even if they take a bit longer.

You’ll get a feel for what you’d consider worthwhile very quickly, so stay true to that. Don’t just invest hours of your time for a couple of bucks – find out what works best for you and you’ll be a happy (and slightly wealthier) Swagbucks member for a long time to come.

Swagbucks Review – Final Rating: A

Hopefully it’s pretty clear from this review why Swagbucks receives such a high rating. I want to be perfectly clear: you’re not going to get rich with Swagbucks. But compared to all of the other paid survey and “get paid to click links” scams out there, SB really over-delivers. You’ll definitely have some extra spending money in your pocket over the next few weeks, as long as you follow the instructions I’ve outlined above.

Hopefully you found this review helpful. If you have any questions at all, please leave them in the comments section below. I’m happy to help however I can, and I usually respond within 24 hours.
